Izard Deputy hit by motorist
While two Izard County deputies were working an accident, early Friday night, involving a vehicle and a deer, one deputy was struck by a motorist., who according to reports was driving at an excessive rate of speed. Deputy Acy Beebe was thrown up into the air from the impact. Beebe was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home by air ambulance and was released later in the night. Trooper Brandon Cook was the investigating officer and issued the driver, David Hallowell, age 65 of Sage, citations for careless driving and leaving the scene of accident involving injury.
Fatality on ATV
Izard County deputies responded to reported ATV accident in a field approximately two miles north of the Sylamore community early Saturday afternoon. An investigation appears that Aubrey Appling, age 55 of that community had killed a deer and while transporting the deer on an all terrain vehicle, the all terrain vehicle overturned and Appling was thrown to the ground where his head hit a rock. Izard County Coroner Eddie Howard pronounced Appling dead at the scene.
Deputies arrested two while males after responding to a reported fight Saturday night in the parking of a Melbourne grocery store. David K. Crider, age 21 of Oxford was charged with possession of a controlled substance and Gerald Caleb Blevins, age 18, also of Oxford was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Crider remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,20 bond. Blevins posted bond in the amount of $2,335 and was released with a court date.
Following a November 15 motor vehicle accident on state highway 56 near the Bandmill community, the driver of one of the vehicles was charged with several offenses. Joshua David Sander, age 32 of Melbourne was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to stop after an accident, driving on a revoked license as the result of a previous DWI, careless and prohibited driving, and operating a vehicle without insurance. Sanders posted bond Friday in the amount of $5,000 and was released with a court date from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Bobby Ray Eddy, age 43 of Melbourne was arrested Thursday when appearing in court on Izard County hot check charges on an Independence County hot check warrant. Eddy posted bond in the amount of $315 and was released the same day.
Kevin Keith Chute, age 39 of Calico Rock was arrested November 15 on a Baxter County warrant. Chute was released the same day after posting bond in the amount of $280.
Ashley Michele Sherrill, age 23 of Wideman was arrested November 15 on a failure to appear warrant. Sherrill posted bond the same day in the amount of $585 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Lynn Eugene Young, age 48 of Oxford was arrested November 17 on a failure to appear warrant. Young posted bond the following day in the amount of $2,383 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
