HOUSE DESTROYED BY ARSON FIRE MAN ARRESTED

A fire that destroyed a double wide mobile home at 39 Collins Drive in Franklin has been classified as arson and an arrest has been made.  Arrested was Christopher Allen Simmons of Horseshoe Bend.   Deputies responded to the location around nine o’clock Thursday night to find the  structure totaled engulfed in flames. The home was owned by Jerried Hardin  and the investigation determined that Hardin’s girlfriend, also ex-girlfriend of Simmons and Simmons had gotten into an argument earlier in the night and  that Simmons had made comments that he would burn the house.  Investigator Charles Melton was called to the scene and while questioning Simmons, it was determined that Simmons entered the house, used a burner on the cook stove to ignite a paper towel and threw the paper towel onto the couch starting the fire. Izard County Sheriff said that Simmons was arrested the night of the fire and  formal charges of breaking and entering along with arson are  pending.   Twenty-five year old Simmons  was released from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting bond the amount of $150,000. Sheriff Lawrence said no one was in house at the time of the fire.

In an unrelated matter, a male and female pair were arrested Monday on the charge of criminal trespass.  Benjamin Jacob Hinds, age 29 of Oxford and Kendra  Hinds, age 33 of Wiseman  were arrested on the trespass offense and Kendra Hinds was additionally charged with obstructing governmental operations.  Sheriff Lawrence said that Benjamin Hinds has a lengthy criminal history in Izard County.  Both posted bond the day of their arrest.  Benjamin Hinds’ bond amount was $605 and Kendra Hinds’ bond amount was $1,710.

Following a traffic stop in Pineville Thursday, Larry Willard Davis was arrested on charges of driving on a suspended license and public intoxication-drugs.  Davis was drug tested at the time he was booked into Izard County Detention Facility and tested positive for amphetamines and opiates.  Davis was released the following day after posting bond in the amount of $1,310.

Nathaniel Allen Lee Speak, age 28 of Calico Rock was arrested January 30 felony failure to appear charges.  Speak remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bond.

Donald Jason Eheart, age 30 of Williford was arrested Friday on thirteen counts of violation of Arkansas hot check law.  Eheart remains in the Izard Detention Facility in lieu of $1,978 cash bond.

Several people were arrested in recent days on failure to pay fines warrants.  Joshua Nathan Cagle, age 26 of Pineville was arrested January  30, posted bond the following day and transferred to Sherwood to answer additional charges.  Cody Justin Casey, age 23 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Friday and posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $665 , given a court date and released.  Samantha Jo Branscum, age 23 of Pineville was arrested January 30 and posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,190, given a court date and released.  Lorenda Gaye Arnold, age 49 of Melbourne was arrested  January 31, posted bond the day of her arrest in the amount of $616, given a court date and released.  Christopher Shane Cline, age 36 of Marmadue was arrested Sunday and remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,495 bond.  Jamie Clayton Stapleton, age 32 of Calico Rock was arrested January 30 and posted bond February 2 in the amount of $835, given a court date and released.  Augustus Dewayne Sanders, age 19 of Dolph was arrested Friday and posted bond in the amount of $560, given a court date and released.  Amanda Kay Rohrscheib, age 23 of Calico Rock was arrested Thursday, posted bond the same day in the amount of $415, given a court date and released. Christopher Michael Owens, age 20 of Dolph was arrested January 31, posted bond  in the amount of $625, given a court date and released.  Patrick Russell McNealy, age 21 of Brockwell was arrested January 30, posted bond the following day in the amount of $475, given a court date and released.  Anthony Eugene Lawrence, age 43 of Mountain Home was arrested February 1, posted bond the following day in the amount of $308, given a court date and released.  Kenny Joe Johnson, age 33 of Mt. Pleasant was arrested February 1, posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $695, given a court date, and released.  Eric Franklin Huihui, age 25 of Melbourne was arrested February 1, released the following day after posting a $640 bond, given a court date and released.  Shirley Fern Hughes, age 25 of Calico Rock was arrested January 31,  posted bond in the amount of $350, given a court date and released.  Robert G. Ferrar, age 22 of Melbourne was arrested Feburary1, released the following day after posting bond in the amount  of  $810. 

William Charles Langley, age 40 of Violet Hill, who was earlier  arrested on a Louisiana rape warrant was transported  from the Izard County Detention Facility to Crowley, Louisiana  where he is being held on $1,000,000 bond.
