A Melbourne man is facing drug charges in addition to traffic related charges following a motor vehicle accident that occurred Saturday night, July 28. Clayton Lynch, age 24 of Melbourne lost control of his vehicle in the city limits of Melbourne, left the roadway and struck the front of a business while being thrown from the vehicle. Lynch was transported by air ambulance to a Springfield, Missouri hospital. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Lynch has been charged with four drug related felonies to include possession of a schedule II controlled substance, hydrocodone, which is a class “c’ felony; possession of more than 14 grams of a schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana), a class “d” felony; possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia, a class “d” felony; and possession of a prescribed narcotic drug outside of the container, a unclassified felony.
Sheriff Lawrence said these charges are in addition to any charges relating specifically to the accident which was worked by the Arkansas State Police. Lawrence said Lynch will be arrested when his medical condition permits.
