Izard County deputies responded late Thursday night to a Pineville address to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival at 86 East Jacksonport Road, they observed a female standing on the front porch in a shirt and underwear who stated that Joseph Gaston, age 28 of that address had awakened her and began to punch and choke her.
Gaston, who was inside the residence, refused to open the locked door. After several attempts to unlock the door with the key provided by the victim, Deputy Acy Beebe gained entry and observed Gaston holding his one year old son in his arms. Gaston appeared very aggravated and ordered the officers out of the house. Gaston released the baby to the victim, began walking into another room and stated that he would not be taken from the house. When ordered to turn around and place his hands behind his back and attempts were made to place Gaston in hand restraints, a struggle ensued. After warning, Gaston was tased and hand restraints were placed on him.
The 19 year -old female victim stated that Gaston had passed out from drinking , that he woke up and started abusing her verbally and started hitting her in the face and head. The victim further stated that Gaston threatened to kill her. The one year old son observed the commotion. The victim is four months pregnant.
Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Gaston was charged with domestic battery 3rd degree, resisting arrest, and endangering the welfare of a minor. Sheriff Lawrence said felony domestic charges are pending as the result of the victim being pregnant.
Gaston is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility pending an appearance before a judge.
In an unrelated matter, Kevin Monroe Hutson, age 31 of Jay Street in Melbourne was arrested Friday on a U.S. Marshall’s warrant accusing him of probation violations. Hutson remains in the Izard County Detention Facility awaiting pickup by the U.S. Marshall Service on Monday.
Marry Diane Peters, age 43 of Sage was arrested September 19 on a Baxter County misdemeanor warrant. Peters posted bond the day of her arrest in the amount of $325 cash, released, and given a court date.
Brenton Nicholas Needle, age 26 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested September 18 on an Izard County failure to pay fines warrant. Needle was released with a court date the day of his arrest after appearing before District Judge David E. Miller.
Kenneth Dale Johnson, age 51 of Calico Rock was arrested Saturday on the charge of disorderly conduct. Johnson posted bond the following day in the amount of $205 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
