Students of Melbourne Head Start were visited Thursday by Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence and Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley. While Sheriff Lawrence was visiting with the children about child safety including fire safety, avoiding strangers, wearing the seat belts and related subjects, Chief Blackley fingerprinted all the students. The students were given a demonstration of the emergency equipment of the sheriff’s vehicle and were provided “The Sheriff is your Friend” coloring book, pencils and lollypops. Sheriff Lawrence said that it’s always a delightful experience to socialized and visit with our future community leaders.
