Forgery warrants have been issued against a male and female in connection with the forging of two checks on the account of a Melbourne woman. John Darrin Croslin, age 45 of Cave City and Carrie Mae Stanley, age 26 of Paragould are both charged with forgery second degree, a class “c” felony. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Croslin and Stanley were arrested Saturday night by Independence County authorities and transported to the Izard County Detention Facility. Sheriff Lawrence said that Stanley was under the influence of an unidentified drug at the time of incarceration. The sheriff went on to say that these two individuals along with some others are the subject of another ongoing investigation by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department.
In another theft related, Chris Martin, age28 of Ash Flat was arrested April 12 on a warrant accusing him of charging fence building materials at an Oxford farm supply business to a family member. According to Sheriff Lawrence, Martin did not have permission to charge the items and at the time of arrest Martin had sold the fifty metal posts and five rolls of barbed wire, collectively valued at approximately $500. Martin remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $2,500 bond.
A male and female were arrested during stop by Arkansas State Trooper Brandon Cook. Trooper Cook pursued a vehicle exiting a side road and onto state highway 5 near the Calico Rock North Central Unit. The vehicle driver, later identified as twenty nine year old Justin Dow Barnes of Cave City later exited highway 5 onto another gravel and into a field where the vehicle became stuck. Trooper Cook was assisted by Correction Department Officer Steven Lively who discovered a .22 caliber pistol in Barnes’ pocket. A criminal background check revealed that Barnes was a convicted felon having been released from the Department of Correction approximately two months ago. Barnes was also charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit, driving on a suspended license, and careless driving. Barnes is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $20,000 bond and an Arkansas Department of Correction hold.
A passenger in the Barnes vehicle, Ashley Michele Sherrill ,age 25 of Pleasant Valley Road , Calico Rock claimed ownership of several drug related items found in the vehicle was charged with possession of an instrument of crime-three counts. According to Sheriff Lawrence, she too remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,135 bond.
