A drug surveillance operation by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has resulted in the arrest of a property owner. A confidential informant advised the department that there was an inside marijuana grow operation at camping cabin located on Piney Creek. The property was later determined to be on Clean Water Lane in the Crystal Shoal No. 2 Subdivision. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said a search of the cabin and the surrounding area conducted October 1, 2013 revealed twelve fairly large marijuana plants located in two separate plots, a small amount of processed marijuana and some marijuana seeds located in the cabin. A 22 caliber rifle was also located in the residence. James Eddie Winders, age 57 of 169 Piney Creek Way was arrested October 3, 2013 on three drug related charges and one weapon charge. The three drug charges were possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, a class “a” misdemeanor ; possession of drug paraphernalia, a class “a” misdemeanor; manufacturing a controlled substance-marijuana, a class “d” felony; and being a felon in possession of a firearm, a class “d’ felony.
