SEVERAL IZARD COUNTYFELONY DRUG ARRESTS

 

 

 KEVIN COX MARK ROGERS  DONITA MASON  RON FERGUSON 

Kevin Cox, age 51 of Melbourne who had been earlier charged with delivery of a controlled substance and was out on bond appeared in Izard County Circuit Court on Tuesday. The prosecution and defense had worked out a plea to these charges when Cox was additionally charged with drug related offenses he committed while out of bond on the charges. Needless to say, Circuit Judge Tim Weaver would not accept the plea and ordered that Cox be held in the Izard County Detention Facility on a no bond status.   Sheriff Tate Lawrence said the new charges facing Cox include unlawful delivery of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, two counts which are class “c” felonies; delivery of a controlled substance-methamphetamine near a certain facility (Melbourne Elementary School), two counts which are also class “c” felonies. These latest charges are the result of the collective effort of the Arkansas State Police, the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Izard County Sheriff’s Department.

In another drug related arrest, Mark Allen Rogers, age 35 of Batesville   was formally charged November 4 for possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a class “d” felony; possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia for ingesting methamphetamine, a class “d” felony; and tampering with physical evidence, a class “d” felony. Rogers remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court on December 11. The 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, the Arkansas State Police, and Izard County Sheriff’s Department assisted each other in these charges.

In yet another drug related arrest, Donita Lynn Mason, age 50 of Batesville who was earlier arrested on driving while intoxicated charges and operating a vehicle without insurance was formally charged November 4 with possession of a controlled substance-methaphetime with the purpose to deliver, a class “b” felony. Mason posted bond November 6 in the amount of $11,230 and is scheduled to appear in district court on November 14 and circuit court on December 11. Assisting each other in these charges were the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Arkansas State Police.

A Mt. Pleasant man, fifty nine year old Ron Edward Ferguson, who was earlier arrested on driving while intoxicated and other traffic related charges were formally charged on November 4 with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia for the purpose of ingesting methamphetamine. Ferguson posted bond November 6 in the amount of $6,230 and has court dates of November 14 and December 11. The Izard County Sheriff’s Department, the Arkansas State Police, and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force are credited with these charges.
