Over the past two or three weeks, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department has received several reports of missing dogs, all small breed dogs. Saturday, a Horseshoe Bend resident reported to SGT. Dennis Hutchins of the department that on that day while her two sheltie collies were chained in her yard she observed a white male, estimated to be in his 50’s, taking the dogs off the chains and putting leashes on them. She comforted him, asked him what he was doing and when he said he was with animal control she told him she knew Horseshoe’s animal control officer, he became nervous and left. The complainant said that the male was about 5’6”tall, was wearing a white ball cap , blue jeans, and a blue sweatshirt lettered “Animal Control”. He was driving a newer model Chevrolet pickup truck with a homemade wire cage in the back. She further stated that the truck did not have a license plate. Sheriff Tate Lawrence requests that anyone knowing this individual or anything about the truck to call Lieutenant Charlie Melton @870 368 4203.
