Flags at the Izard County Sheriff’s Office were flown at half-staff over the weekend in memory and honor of Corporal Rick Hill who unexpectedly passed away Friday morning. Deputy Hill was a retired officer of the Pine Bluff Police Department after which he was hired as a patrol deputy for the Izard County Sheriff’s Department. His surviving wife, Beverly, is also a retired officer of the Pine Bluff department. Corporal Hill was 61 years of age
Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Deputy Hill dedicated his life to the service of his fellowman. He was dedicated to the sheriff’s department but more importantly dedicated to the citizens of Izard County. When hired by Izard County, he immediately established a positive relationship with fellow deputies, jailers, dispatchers, office staff, and the citizens of the county. Sheriff Lawrence said Corporal Hill will be greatly missed. Hill was buried Sunday in the Antioch Cemetery.
