01/27/2014 MT. PLEASANT MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY DRUG CHARGES |

Maurice Jordon Moser, age 22 of Mt. Pleasant was arrested late Saturday night at a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of state highways 69 and 58. Trooper Pickers of the Arkansas State Police requested the assistance of Izard County K-9 Corporal Acy Beebe, who ran his K-9 partner, Hugo, around the vehicle and the narcotics dog alerted to the rear passenger side door of the vehicle. A crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle on the passenger side. Moser was taken into custody and placed in the Izard County Detention Facility on an investigative hold. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said formal charges are pending with the assistance of the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force. Middle morning January 22, Corporal Mark Simino responded to the compliant of a domestic violence situation in Calico Rock. Mary C. Tyrone of 101 Highway 56 is accused of getting into a physical altercation with a male identified as the boyfriend of her daughter. The male victim had left the residence because his phone had been damage by Tyrone and reported the situation to the sheriff’s department at a nearby phone. According to the daughter, Tyrone had been argumentative with her boyfriend for the past couple of days and that Tyrone had comforted the boyfriend that morning but he attempted to ignore her outbursts of rage. Tyrone acquired a knife and projected the knife toward him. Tyrone was taken into custody and while being transported became agitated and made verbal comments toward the boyfriend. Tyrone was charged with domestic battering third degree. The following day, Tyrone appeared before District Judge David E. Miller for an initial appearance. was very agitated and had to be warned to calm down during the appearance. A cash bond for Tyrone, age 49 was set at $1,000 cash. Tyrone remains in the Izard County Detention Facility according to Sheriff Lawrence.
