|||
Izard County Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley announced today that a benefit is underway for the family of Corporal Rick Hill, a deputy of the Izard County Sheriff’s Department until his untimely and unexpected death a couple of weeks ago. Blackley said that an account has been established to accept donations at the First National Bank of Izard locations in Melbourne, Calico Rock, Mtn. View, and Mount Pleasant. Chances are being sold on a Savage Axis .243 rifle with a stainless barrel which will be given away by drawing on February 15th during a benefit for Corporal Hill. Tickets for the drawing can be purchased from any Izard County deputy or at the Izard County Sheriff’s Office. The February 15th benefit event will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Izard County Fairgrounds. The benefit will include a chili meal with all the trimmings, an auction of donated items (see any deputy to donate items for the event), and pony cart rides for the children. Everyone’s participation is appreciated.
