KURTLEY CHARGED IN PHONE STORE THEFT

Latina Kurtley, an early suspect in March 30 burglary of Russell Cellular was arrested April 2 and charged with commercial burglary,  class “c” felony and theft of property, a class “a” misdemeanor . Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Kurtley jimmied the lock to the business’ front door and stole two cell phones. One of the phones was recovered by Lieutenant Charles Melton and Sergeant Gabe Sanders. The other stolen phone has not been located. Kurtley, age 40 of 117 Moser Street, Melbourne remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $10,000 bond.

A 1998 Ford Windstar van was stolen from a residence in Oxford Friday morning and found later that morning in Baxter County.  Christopher Consentino, who gave a permanent address of Little Rock, had been staying at the Oxford residence. Both entrances to the bedroom Consentino were barricaded and when Sergeant Gabe Sanders made entry he discovered the bed was made up to look as if someone was in the bed and a window in the bedroom was open. Consentino was charged with theft of property and class “d” felony. District Judge David E. Miller set bond at $10,000.

In another theft case, Russell M. Dennison, age 63 of Rodney Cut Off Road, Calico Rock was arrested March 31 on the charge of theft by receiving, a class “c” felony. According to Sheriff Lawrence, Dennison had an internet relationship with supposedly a female and they were operating together,  forging checks on a business in San Francisco, California and depositing them in Dennison’s account at a Melbourne bank.  Dennison appeared before District Judge David E. Miller, released from the Izard County Detention Facility, and given a court date.

Jordan Randal Meadows, age 22 of Pineville was arrested Saturday on the charge of domestic battering third degree after becoming physical with his girlfriend. Upon arrival to the residence, Sergeant Gabe Sanders and Deputy Carl Russell found Meadows to be in the attic. Meadows was persuaded to come out when he was warned that Sanders’ patrol dog would be released into the attic. Meadows appeared before District Judge David E. Miller on Sunday, given a court date, and released.

Paul David Beaver, age 30 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested March 31 on the charge of fleeing and a petition to revoke probation/parole. Beaver remains in the Izard County Detention Facility on a no bond basis.

Another Horseshoe Bend man, Sherman Horner, age 52 was arrested April 3 on a failure to appear warrant. Horner posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $500 cash, given an Aril 24 court date and released.

Jacob Wayne Heikes, age 28 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested April 1 on the charge of driving on a suspended license and a terroristic threatening warrant out of Marion County. Heikes remains in jail in lieu of bond amounts of $1,800.

Don W. Smith, age 62 of Melbourne was arrested early morning hours of March 31 after a family member requested a welfare check on Smith. During the check, Smith struck Deputy Sollock and as a result was arrested and charged with felony assault on a police officer. Smith was later transferred to the state hospital in Little Rock.

 

Sergeant Gabe Sanders arrested Angela Marie Dickerson, age 36 of Calico Rock on the charge of shoplifting. Dickerson is accused of stealing baby formula from Harp’s in Calico Rock. Dickerson posted bond the day of her arrested in the amount of $1,105, given a court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Gary Lesley Chitwood, age 52 of Melbourne was arrested April1 on an Independence County warrant. Chitwood posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $580, given an Independence County court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

John Rone, age 27 of Batesville was arrested April3 on a failure to appear warrant. Rone remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $1,500 bond and a department of probation/parole hold.
