Deputy Mike Smith responded Thursday, April 10, to a call of a vehicle obstructing traffic south of the Strawberry River Bridge in Horseshoe Bend and while attempting to get the vehicle towed, the owner, James N. Leis of Franklin appeared on the scene. When Leis exited his vehicle a small container fell to the ground. Leis attempted to conceal the small pill bottle which contained a substance identified as methamphetamine. Deputy Smith requested the assistance of Sergeant Gabe Sanders and his K-9 partner, who alerted to the presences of illegal substance or substances in the vehicle Leis, was driving. Two smoking devices were located. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Lies, age 50 was formally charged with possession of methamphetamine, a class “d” felony; possession of drug paraphernalia to ingest marijuana, a class “a” misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia with purpose to pack, store, contain or conceal methamphetamine, a class “b” felony, Leis remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $20,000 bond. At the time of his arrest, Leis tested positive for marijuana, methamphetamine, and oxycodone.
Another traffic stop Saturday by Deputy Mike Smith in Horseshoe Bend resulted in the arrest of Carrie Worsham, age 46 of Salem. Worsham was charged w with driving on a suspended license resulting from a previous driving while intoxicated charge and possession of drug paraphernalia- two smoking devices. Worsham was released from the Izard County Detention Facility the following day after posting $2,105 bond. Sheriff Lawrence said that additional charges are being formalized against Worsham.
Timothy Scott Cannon, age 22 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Friday on the charge of disorderly conduct. The charge follows numerous complaints the past several weeks of Cannon knocking of people’s doors in the Horseshoe area. Cannon posted bond the following day in the amount of $225 cash, given a court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Joshua Nathaniel Moorehead, age 22 of Dolph was arrested Friday on charges of include driving while intoxicated, unlawful operation of a motorcycle, and driving a vehicle without registration. Moorehead was released the following day from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting bond in the amount of $1,795.
Justin Eli Burch, age 25 of Calico Rock was arrested April 11 for assault third degree, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Burch, a probation violator also accused on attempting to introduce a controlled substance into a jail, is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility without bond. At the time of Burch’s arrest, he tested positive for marijuana, methamphetamine, and oxycodone.
Derrick Walter Cook, age 44 of Calico Rock was arrested April 10 on child support enforcement warrant. Cook posted an $800 cash bond the day of his arrest and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Jay Jay Massey, age 50 of Calico rock was arrested April 8 on charges of harassment, harassing communication, and terroristic threatening second degree. Massey posted a $3,000 bond the day of his arrest and given a court date.
Ray Cantrell, age 50 of Calico Rock was arrested April 7 on a failure to pay fines warrant and appeared in court the following day and released.
Carl B. Vannatter, age 27 of Pineville was transported April 9 to the Arkansas Department of Correction as the result of his probation being revoked by the court.
Steven William Chute, age 24 of Dolph was arrested April 8 on failure to pay fines warrant and for nonsupport. Chute was released April 10 after appearing before District Judge David E. Miller.
Courtney Erin Green, age 37 of Fort Worth, Texas was arrested April 8 following an incident near Sylamore. Green was charged with terroristic threatening second degree. Due to child care issues, Green was released by Sheriff Lawrence the following day with a court date. The same incident resulted in the arrested of Danny William Brown, age 54 of 311 South Riverview Lane and he too was charged with terroristic threatening second degree. Brown appeared before District Judge David E. Miller on April 10, given a court date, and released.
Sarah Engles, age 24 of Melbourne was arrested April 7 after her small child was discovered riding a bicycle on the highway. The child said he was going to his grandmother’s house to get something to eat. Engles was home sleeping at the time. According to family members, this is an ongoing problem with the mother. Engles was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. Engles posted bond the day of her arrest in the amount of $605, given a court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Keith Allen Richardson, age 24 of Mountain View was arrested April 9 on circuit criminal contempt charges and is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility on a no bond status.
Brian Allen Johnson, Jr., age 27 of Strawberry was arrested April 7 on a failure to pay fines warrant. Johnson appeared before District Judge David E. Miller the following day, given a court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
