DRUG RELATED AND THEFT ARRESTS IN HORSESHOE BEND

Four people were arrested Friday afternoon at a Horseshoe Bend residence. Deputy Doyle Cross was patrolling the area when he observed a pickup truck reported to have been stolen parked at 1003 Pleasant Point, the residence of David Smart. State Trooper Jason Hooks responded to assist Deputy Cross. While clearing the residence, officers noted drug paraphernalia in several places inside the house. An officer of the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force was contacted to assist. Drug paraphernalia seized included glass pipes, used for smoking methamphetamine; a plastic baggy containing methamphetamine reside; a spoon; and a marijuana smoking bong .Justin Dean Wallace, age 33 of Alma, was arrested and is being accused of having possession of the Lawrence County stolen truck. Wallace was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and is facing additional charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a defaced firearm.  Wallace is also being held on a parole/probation hold without bond.

Three other occupants of the residence were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. These individuals include David Dale Smart, age 47 of Horseshoe Bend; Sara Jo Bostick, age 50 of Horseshoe Bend; and Charlene Loretta Syscue, age 39 of Melbourne. The three posted bond early the following morning in the amount of $1,105, released from the Izard County Detention Facility and given a court date.

Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that the charges and arrest are result of   the cooperative efforts of the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, the Arkansas State Police, and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force.
