BATESVILLE WOMAN FACING MULTIPLE DRUG CHARGES

A Sunday afternoon traffic stop south of Melbourne resulted in the arrest and multiple drug charges against a Batesville woman. Shani Lee Hawkins, age 33 of 769 Kyle Street of the Southside area was charged with four felonies to include possession of a controlled substance-meth, possession of drug paraphernalia for ingesting meth, possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture a controlled substance, and furnishing prohibited articles into a jail. Hawkins was also charged with two additional possession of controlled substance violations. Hawkins remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $30,000 bond. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said this arrest and charges are the collective efforts of the Arkansas State Police, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force.

Justin Allen Janson, age 29 of Calico Rock was arrested on a failure to pay fines warrant on July 18. During the arrest it was noted that Janson had illegal drugs on his person. Janson remains in the Izard County Detention Facility on a criminal investigative hold pending formal felony drug charges.

A Horseshoe Bend man, Matthew Zechariah Sanders, age 25 was arrested Sunday on charges of possessing a controlled substance and possessing an instrument of crime along with driving on a suspended license. Sanders posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $2,685, given a September 25 court date and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Shelby Lynne Johnson, age 23 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Sunday on an Independence  County warrant. Johnson was transported the day of her arrest to Batesville by Independence County authorities.

Travis D. Harris, age 29 of Franklin was arrested Sunday on the charge of domestic battering following a situation in Horseshoe Bend involving his girlfriend. Harris awaits an initial appearance before District Judge David E. Miller.

Blake Alan Dixon, age 23 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Sunday on a failure to appear warrant. Dixon remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $700 cash bond. 

Melissa Slaughter, age 45 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving left of center, and careless driving. Slaughter remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,285 bond.

Tracey Lynn Alex, age 44 of Oxford was arrested Sunday night on charges of public intoxication and obstructing governmental operations. Alex, who has had numerous encounters with law enforcement recently, remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,510 bond.

Evan Ladd Freeman, age 41 of Paragould was arrested Saturday on the charge of public intoxication. Freeman posted bond Sunday in the amount of $205, given a September 25 court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Dale Devon Wright, age 26 of Dolph was arrested July 17 on charges domestic battery third degree and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. Wright remains in the Izard County Detention Facility pending a judicial appearance.

An Illinois man, Seth Austin Mathis, age 19 was arrested July 14 on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license. Mathis posted bond July 16 in the amount of $2,790 bond, given a September 25 court date, and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Karen Leigh Dwight, age 47 of Calico Rock was arrested July 14 for theft of motor fuel. Dwight is accused of pumping gas into her vehicle at a Calico Rock convenience store and driving away without paying for the fuel. Dwight appeared before District Judge David E. Miller the day of her arrest and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility with an August 21 court date.

Melanie Moorehead, age 72 of Santa Monica, California was arrested July 16 on the charge of criminal trespass. According to Sheriff Lawrence, Moorehead was in Izard County for the purpose of seeing a man she has been infatuated with for several years and had stalked him in the past in California. The man was not home the day Hawkins was arrested but in Europe on a business trip. Hawkins appeared in Izard County District Court the day following her arrest, given a court date and released from the Izard County Detention Facility with a no contact order.

Natasha Dawn Miller, age 36 of Sheffield Road in Melbourne was arrested July 17 on a failure to pay fines warrant. Miller posted bond the following day in the amount $100 cash and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility with a court date.

Beyoncia S. McKinney, FW 23 OF Mountain Home was arrested July 18 on a failure to appear warrant. McKinney remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $518 bond.

Nellie Mae Masters, age 54 of Melbourne was arrested Sunday on a failure to pay fines warrant. Masters posted bond in the amount of $472, given an August 5 court date and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Anthonio R. McCuien, age 42 of North Little Rock was arrested July 15 on a body attachment and is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $24,623 bond.

 Izard County Inmate Codi D. Schales, age 21 of Horseshoe Bend was transported July 18 to the Arkansas Department of Correction.
