Felony drug charges were brought against George Fredrick Miller of Horseshoe Bend following a traffic stop in the city by Deputy Toby Smith. The September 24 stop was conducted near Veterans’ Park where a quantity of methamphetamine and a smoking device were located in crease of the truck seat. In addition to being charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth), possessing of drug paraphernalia, Miller, age 49 was also charged with driving on a suspended license. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said the arrest and charges are the cooperative efforts of the Izard County Sheriff’ Department and the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force. Miller was released the following day to an area hospital. Sheriff Lawrence noted that as the sheriff’s department and assisting agencies continue the fight against illegal drug activities, suspected dealers have chosen to leave Horseshoe Bend rather than face arrest and prosecution. That’s the choices they have according to Lawrence, either be arrested or simply the leave the area.
Another traffic stop in Horseshoe Bend on September 24 by Deputy Toby Smith resulted in the arrest of Dustin Lee Mahan, age 18 of Cave City. Mahan was charged with possession of marijuana. Mahan remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $1,050 cash bond.
Michal Abraham Harris, age 39 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested September 21 by Sgt Dennis Hutchins on a theft of property warrant. Harris is accused of writing checks on a closed account to a Melbourne restaurant. Harris was released from the Izard County Detention Facility on September 23 and given a court date.
Richard Jules Crouch, age 43 of Melbourne was arrested by Deputy Richard Williams in Melbourne September 24 following a fight. Crouch was charged with battery third degree and public intoxication. Crouch was transferred to a mental facility the following day.
Robert Duane Ramey, age 36 of Calico Rock was arrested September 25 on the charge of domestic battery third degree. Ramey remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $1,500 cash bond. Corporal Mark Simino was the arresting officer.
Christopher John Frey, Sr., age 48 of Brockwell was arrested Thursday night on the change of public intoxication following an incident at Mt. Pleasant. Frey remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $205 bond. Deputy Richard Williams was the arresting officer.
Lee Harmon, Jr., age 41 of Franklin was arrested early Friday morning in Horseshoe Bend on the charge of driving while intoxicated, failure to pay registration, and having no insurance. Harmon remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,100 bond.
Richard Alfred Magouirk II, age 27 of Melbourne was arrested September 24 on a felony probation/parole hold and remains in the Izard County Detention Facility on a no bond status.
Kevin Monroe Hutson, age 33 of Batesville was arrested Friday on a failure to appear warrant and remains in the Izard County Detention Facility on a no bond status.
Benjamin Hinds, age 32 of Calico Rock was jailed September 22 on a seven day commitment for violating terms of drug court and remains incarcerated until the commitment is fulfilled.
