Two Horseshoe Bend men were arrested October 7 theft of property and criminal trespass charges. Keith Varnado, age 54 of Pavilion Lane and Richard Varnado, age 58, also of Pavilion are accused of stealing scrape metal from a Horseshoe Bend location. Keith Varnado is also charged with driving on a suspended license, driving too fast for conditions, driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said Richard Varnado remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,210 bond while Keith posted bond in the amount of $1,590, released and given a November 4 court date. Deputy Mike Smith was the arresting officer.
In a separate theft case, Matthew Carson, age 30 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Sunday involving the theft of a lawnmower and a weed eater at a residence on Scenic Acres. Carson posted a $1,210 bond, given a November 4 court date and released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Deputies were dispatched Sunday to the Jay Street area of Melbourne in response to a suspicious person. Adam Pinkston, age 42 of Melbourne was arrested on an Oklahoma warrant charging him with battery and assault with a deadly weapon. Pinkston remains in the Izard County Detention Facility on a no bond status waiting extradition proceeding to the state of Oklahoma. Pinkston has a history of being in and out of the Izard County Jail.
Tammy Lynn Needle, age 47 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Friday night near the mobile home park in Horseshoe Bend on the charge of driving while intoxicated. Needle posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,000, released from the Izard County Detention Facility and given a November 4 court date.
Sabrina Carol Edwards, age 24 of Melbourne was charged Friday with theft of property relating to her writing a check on a closed account. Edwards was released the day of her arrest and given an October 23 court date.
Stacy Ann Moore, age 36 of Franklin was arrested Friday night in Horseshoe Bend on the charge of driving on a suspended license as the result of a previous DWI. Moore posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,105, released from the Izard County Detention Facility and given a November 4 court date.
Following an incident around midnight October 9, a male and female are facing drug charges yet to be finalized. Keith Allen Richardson, age 24 of Batesville and Jolynn Mandel, age 30 of Calico Rock is also being held on a petition to revoke her probation. Sheriff Lawrence said Mandel tested positive for opiates, marijuana, methamphetamine, and oxycodone Deputies Jason Jordan and Phil Story were the arresting officers.
Elizabeth Marie Thompson, age 33 of ‘Calico Rock was arrested October 8 on a failure to pay fines warrant. Thompson is being held on an $850 cash bond and holds from Baxter and Stone counties. Thompson is scheduled to appear in court October 23 .Reserve Deputy Jeff Sanders was the arresting officer.
Claude Rouse, age 51 of Salem was jailed October 7 on a probation/parole hold and released from the Izard County Detention Facility by probation and parole November 10.
Samantha Padelford, age 26 who listed her address as homeless was transported October 6 to the Arkansas Department of Correction to serve a circuit court imposed sentence. Padelford had been held in the Izard County Detention Facility since August 22.
