OXFORD MAN RECEIVES MULTIPLE CHARGES

James Edward Filchak, age 41 of Oxford was arrested around midnight February 25 on charges of endangering the  welfare of a minor-three counts, domestic battering third degree-three counts, and resisting arrest.  Deputies were dispatched to an Oxford residence where a domestic assault was in progress. A 12 year old boy stated to officers that Filchak had beaten his mom. 

The victim, appearing visibly upset and stated that Filchak had hit her. Filched was advised that he was under arrest and which time Filchak stated he was not going to jail. Filchak locked his body in the setting position and refused to comply with the orders of Deputy Sollock but was cuffed and placed in the patrol car.

 It was also determined that three children ages 12 to 15 was present when the assault occurred and that Filchak had hit one the children leaving marks on her face and arms. It was also reported that Filchak took blood from a small scratch on his arm and attempted to put some of it in one of the child’s mouth and that “Filchak has been diagnosed with hepatitis “C”.    

Filchak is also accused of throwing a coffee can at a male child but missed him then went up  and slapped the male child on the back of the head. Filchak remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $5,000 bond.

 In an unrelated matter, Latisha Renea Scarbrough, age 30 of Batesville was arrested the evening of February 24 on the charge of third degree battery. The charge stems from an argument at a Melbourne residence involving three or more people and  an altercation resulted. Scarbrough was charged with battery third degree.  Scarbrough appeared before District Judge David E. Miller on Thursday and was released with a March 26 court date.

Nicholas Dean Bull, age 23 of Melbourne was arrested March 27 on charges of possessing an instrument of crime and endangering the welfare of a minor. Bull appeared before Judge Miller Saturday and was released with a March 26 court date.

Jesse James Ball, age 20 of Oxford was arrested around midnight March 26 on charges of driving left of center and under age driving under the influence.  Ball was released the following day after appearing before judge Miller and was given an April 9 court date.

Tara Rene Sellers, age 42 of Mountain Home was arrested March 25 on the charge of public intoxication. Sellers was released March1 from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting bond in the amount of $205. Sellers is scheduled in court March 26.

Chris Stills, age 50 of Libourne, Missouri was arrested Sunday on a non-support warrant and remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $7,707 bond.

Madison Catherine Coles, age 19 of Batesville was arrested Sunday for possession of alcohol by a minor. Coles posted bond immediately upon booking into the Izard County Detention Facility. Coles has a 26 court date.

Michael Tate Harris, age 21 was arrested March 27 on the charge of public intoxication. Harris posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $205 and given an April 9 court date.

Steven Duane Hood, Sr., age 48 of Pineville was arrested February 24 on a failure to pay fines warrant. Hood was released March 26 after appearing in Izard County District Court with time served.

Dustin Michael Baird was arrested February 24 on an Independence County warrant and was transported to Independence County the following day.

William Harold Berry, age 46 of Leaburg,  Oregon who was being held since February 13 on Oklahoma felony charges was extradited to Oregon on February 25.

A Horseshoe Bend man, 46 year old Gregory William Gieski, was arrested February on a failure to appear warrant and remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $1,500 cash bond.

Heather Runae Roemmich, age 30 of Calico Rock who had been awaiting bed space in the Arkansas Department of Correction was transported to Pine Bluff on February 25.

William Thomas Stanton, age 22 of Horseshoe Bend who had been in jail since January 30 was transported February 23 to the Arkansas Department of Correction on a revocation of probation/parole.
