|||
The Drug Take Back initiative conduct Saturday September 26 at Horseshoe Bend and Melbourne resulted in 115 pounds of unwanted and outdated prescription drugs being turned in. This is the tenth year of this national initiative and the Izard County Sheriff’s Department has been a participant every year. Sheriff Lawrence said this program is an excellent way to rid homes of potentially dangerous drugs and environmentally sound as compared to flushing down the toilets and contaminating our waterways. The collection receptacles are available all year, twenty four hours a day. They are located in foyer at the sheriff’s substation in Horseshoe Bend and at the main entrance to the sheriff’s office in Melbourne.
