HORSESHOE MAN THREATENS MOTHER,FATHER, AND SELF

Following a report Thursday that a man had threatened to kill his mother and father and then himself was arrested in Horseshoe Bend. Mark D. Hooten, age 57 of 321 Fairway was arrested the same day of the report on suspicion that Hooten was a felon in possession of a firearm and a stolen firearm. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said it was also reported that Hooten went to the Ash Flat Walmart to purchase a certain brand of ice cream and when learned that the store did no carry that brand, he became upset and trashed and disarranged an area of the store. Hooten remains in the Izard County DetentionFacility pending formal charges and a possible mental commitment. Deputies Mike Smith and Doyle Cross were the arresting officers.

An Oxford man identified as Tyler Blanchard, age 21 was arrested Saturday night on the charge of domestic battering third degree. The victim, Blanchard’s  Grandmother complained that as she was trying to give medication to a dog that Blanchard became upset. The Grandmother  said as she was walking away to avoid the argument, Blanchard grabbed her by her throat and hit her in the back striking her an unknown number of times. When the grandmother told Blanchard that she was going to call the police he grabbed her again by the throat. Blanchard alledgedly told his grandmother that he didn’t care because he would be gone before police arrived. As Corporal Richard Williams and Deputy Dennis Tiernan were leaving, Blanchard came in the front door at which time he was arrested. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that he did not think there was sufficient penalty for someone who would strike their own grandmother.Blanchard remains in the Izard County Detention on a $2,500 cash bond with a court date of January 9.

Jacob Anthony Frey, age 26 of Flippin was arrested Friday on a probation/bond revocation out of Izard County District Court. The revocations stems from Frey being charged for shoplifting at Batesville’s Walmart. Frey who tested positive for multiple drugs when booked in to the facility is also suspected of bringing prohibited articles in a lockup facility and faces additional charges. Frey remains in the Izard County DetentionFacilitywithout bond. Frey has a court date of January 21.

Travis Allen McFarland, age 21 of Viola was arrested Friday morning on the charge of driving on a suspended license. McFarland remains in the Izard County Jail without bond with a court date of January 21. Sergeant Mark Simino was the arresting officer.

Vernon Leon Stills Jr., age 48 of Melbourne was arrested January 5 on a theft of property warrant. The charge is the result of Stills being accused to stealing property from Melbourne’s Mana House. Stills was released from jail after a $5000 cash bond was posted on his behalf and was given a later court date.

Amanda Kay Comstock, age 34 of Viola was arrested January 4 on charges of shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance. The shoplifting charge stems from Comstock being accused of taking items from a discount store in Horseshoe Bend. Comstock posted bond Sunday in the amount of $1,770, released from the Izard County DetentionFacility and has scheduled court dates of February 2 in Horseshoe Bend and February 21 in Melbourne. Deputy Mike Smith was the arresting officer.

Amanda Nicole Miller, age 27 of Maumelle was arrested January 4 on parole/probation revocation warrant. Miller remains in the Izard County DetentionFacilityin lieu of a $10,000 cash bond with a scheduled Circuit Court date of January 25.Kirk Samuel Johnson, age 53 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Saturday night on the charge of driving on a suspended license.

 A friend posted a $365 professional bond the night of the arrest and Johnson was released from the Izard County DetentionFacility with a Horseshoe Bend court date of March 3. Deputy Toby Smith was the arresting officer.

Lindsey Michelle Carter, age 22 of Batesville was arrested Thursday by Deputy Steve Davidson on a petition to revoke probation. Carter was released from the Izard County DetentionFacility due to a current medical issue and given a January 25 Circuit Court date.

Kevin Richard Yates, age 58 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested early Friday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated, carless/prohibited driving and failure to yield. Yates posted a $1,160 bond later in the day of his arrest. Yates was released from the Izard County DetentionFacility with a scheduled Horseshoe Bend court date of March 1.Deputy Mike Smith was the arresting officer.

A Mountain View man, Dominic Nelson, age 42 was arrested in Stone County Saturday on an Izard County failure to pay fines warrant. Nelson was released from the Izard County DetentionFacility on Sunday after posting a $500 cash bond. A court date of January 21 has been set for Nelson.

Joseph Benedict, age 39 of Salem was arrested early Sunday morning in Horseshoe Bend on the charge of driving on a suspended license. Benedict posted a $365 bond the day of his arrest and was released from the Izard County Detention with a March 1 court date.

Another Mountain View man identified as thirty year old William Joseph Ivy was arrested in Izard County on charges from Stone County. Ivy was transported to Stone County the day of his arrest. Deputy Evan Jones was the arresting officer

Stacy Lantz, age 44 of Batesville was arrested Friday on an Izard County failure to appear warrant. Stantz was released from jail the day of her arrest after a $500 cash bond was posted on her behalf. Lantz has a scheduled court date of February  4 in Melbourne. The arresting officer was Deputy Steve Davidson.

Joseph Scott McGowan, age 40 of Calico Rock was arrested January 4 on a failure to pay fines warrant. McGowan appeared in Izard County District Court on Thursday when a payment plan was established. McGowan was released from jail that day. The arresting officer was Sergeant Mark Simino.

A Horseshoe Bend man was arrested Thursday on failure to pay fines warrant. Thomas Deuel, age 48 of Fourth Street remains in the Izard County DetentionFacility in lieu of a $410 cash bond and has a scheduled court date of February 4. Deputy Ronald Lennex was the arresting officer.

Derek James Hill, age 28 of Batesville was arrested January 6 on a failure to pay fines warrant.  Hill was released from the Izard County DetentionFacility the day of his arrest after posting a $1,600 cash bond. Hill is scheduled to appear in Horseshoe Bend court on February 2.

Darrell Dean Lawrence, age 53 of Ravenden was arrested January 4 for failure to pay fines. Lawrence was released the day of his arrest after family members posted $275 cash bond and was given a court date of January 7.
