A Salem man who has a history of encounters with area law enforcement agencies including the Izard County Sheriff’s Department was arrested Thursday on charges of theft of property and second degree forgery. Darren Lee Norman, a parolee of the Arkansas Department of Correction is accused of purchasing a vehicle in the Mt. Pleasant area with a forged check. Thirty one year old Norman was found Thursday to be in possession of the vehicle that was damaged and when seized contained a sufficient quantity of alcohol. It is further alleged that he replace doors and other vehicle accessories for the Jeep, were also taken and were recovered on Friday. Norman remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $2,000 bond with a scheduled circuit court date of Mary 16. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said the case remains under investigation with additional charges likely. Deputy D.J. Tiernan was the arresting officer.
Two Melbourne area male juveniles were arrested Thursday in Missouri and when a vehicle stolen from Izard County was wrecked. The juveniles were friends, they planned to run away and one was seen leaving his residence about 2:00 a.m. that morning. The vehicle, a Dodge Neon, occupied by the two was located near Alton, Missouri and had burned during the accident. The two juveniles were transported to the White River Juvenile Detention Facility in Batesville where they remained pending an appearance before a judge.
Two Melbourne men were arrested Thursday following an altercation on the parking lot of Hometown Market the previous week. Jeremy Coleman, age 34 and David Lee Wilson, age 33 were charged with battery third degree. Both were released from the Izard County Detention the day of their arrest and given an April 28 court date.
A Mountain Home man was arrested April 13 on charges of disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gregory Wayne Romine, age 42 was later transferred from the Izard County Detention to a rehabilitation facility.
Ricky Ray Lake, age 37 of Melbourne was arrested April 12 on contempt of court charges relating to having not paid circuit court fines. Lake, who has frequent encounters with law enforcement was released by the court the following day after being given a payment schedule and an October review date. Sgt. Mark Simino was the arresting officer.
Joshua Shane Woodall, age 41 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested April 12 on a failure to pay fines warrant and later posted a $555 cash bond and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility. Deputy R. C. Lenex was the arresting officer.
Edwin Ben Teegarden, age 44 of Dolph was arrested April 11 on a probation/parole violation for having tested positive for drugs. Teegarden remains in the Izard County Detention Facility pending revocation. Probation Officer Jana Pinkston was the arresting officer.
Zachary Cole Arnold, age 21 of Salem was arrested Thursday on charges of drinking in public and failure to appear. Zachary remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $690 cash bond and has a court date of April 28. Cpl. Richard Williams was the arresting officer.
Benjamin Jacob Hines, age 33 of Oxford was arrested Thursday on criminal contempt of court warrant and remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu a cash bond in the amount of $1,920. Deputy Evan Jones was the arresting officer.
Kevin Douglas Quinton, age 45 of Salesville was arrested April 13 on a failure to pay fines warrant. Quinton remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $933 cash bond. Deputy Geoffrey Watts was the arresting officer.
Amanda Kaye Comstock, age 34 of Viola was arrested Saturday night on the charge of battery third degree. Comstock and another female were involved in a fight. Comstock is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility on a parole hold.
