Danny Franks, age 39 of Blytheville and previously of Melbourne has been charged following a call Tuesday night to Fairview Street in Melbourne in reference to a domestic violence compliant. As Cpl. Richard Williams was responding, dispatch advised him that the alleged perpetrator had left the residence driving a small, tan, Toyota truck. Williams attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Franks sped away and continue to flee to Lacrosse Road, and then west of highway 56. To Johnson View Road. Franks abandoned the truck and fled on foot. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that deputies were unable to locate Franks, but had his vehicle towed and impounded.
Wednesday morning a Johnson View resident who lives nearby the abandonment site reported that his truck was missing when he awoke. Suspecting that Franks had stolen the truck investigators learned that Franks was now residing in Blytheville and a BOLO (be on the lockout) was put out on the stolen vehicle.
Later Wednesday morning, Mississippi County authorities advised Lieutenant Melton of the Izard County Sheriff’s Department that the stolen truck had been located by a farmer in a corn field. They further advised that no one was in or near the truck and that the vehicle engine was still running.
Franks has been charged with theft, a class B felony; and fleeing, a class D felony. Franks remains at large as authorities continue to search for him. Anyone having knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to contact the Izard County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Lawrence said Franks has had numerous encounters with law enforcement.
