An Oxford couple was arrested November 9 following a traffic stop and charged with felony drug possession. Trooper Villiger made the traffic stop in Oxford and arrested Bobby Gray 50 on charges of driving on a suspended license, and having no insurance. Inside the vehicle a cigarette package containing a green leafy substance known to officers to be marijuana and in another cigar pack a white crystalline substance was located and it contained meth amphetamine. The passenger, Crystal Darlene Thomas, age 46 along with Gray were charged with possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine, a class “d” felony. Izard County District Judge David E. Miller set bond for each at $5,000 and in lieu of this bond both remain in the Izard County Detention Facility with a December 12 court date. Sheriff Lawrence said that In addition to the sheriff’s department the 16th Judicial District Drug Task force assisted the Arkansas State Police with the charges.
In other arrests, Jeffery Daniel Holt, age 31 of Batesville was arrested November 9 on the charge of criminal trespass. The charge stems from being on property near Violet Hill that he was not allowed. Deputy Mike Foster was the arresting officer.
Kyle Steven Quillman, age 24 of Oxford was arrested Thursday on a violation of Arkansas hot check law warrant. Quillman remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $408 bond and has a scheduled court date of November 17. Deputy Evan Jones was he arresting officer.
Kenneth Darnell Higdon, age 54 of Oxford was arrested November 8 after appearing at the sheriff’s office and when tested, Higdon tested positive for meth and marijuana. Higdon, who was out of jail on bond was arrested for violating conditions of bond and remains the Izard County Detention Facility on a no bond status.
Mackenzie Everett Speir, age 28 of Wideman was arrested Thursday on a felony warrant from Missouri for failure to appear. Speir posted bond the day of his arrested in the amount of $5,000 cash and was released with a December 16 St. Clair, Missouri court date. Deputy D.J. Tiernan was the arresting officer.
Codi Schales, age 23 of Horseshoe Bend, who was arrested on a conspiracy charge last week was rearrested November 7 and is being held without bond for the Arkansas Department of Correction.
Several Izard County inmates awaiting bed space in the Arkansas Department of Correction have be transported this past week to prison. The inmates include Ricky Ray Lake, age 37 of Melbourne; Jarod Lee Sisco, age 31 of Horseshoe Bend; Johnny Elden Schales, age 33 of Brinkley; Chad Langston, age 26 and Chance Lee McCurley, age 26 both of Melbourne.
