Following a month long investigation into the theft of several thousand dollars and a handgun from a Lafferty residence, an arrest has been made. On Friday, December 9, Jason Willis was arrested on charges of residential burglary and theft of property, both of which are class “b” felonies. Willis, who gave addresses of Jonesboro and Cabot is accused of taking a small fire proof safe containing personal documents and several thousand dollars and the handgun from a relative of the family. Willis was released after posting $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in circuit court in January.
William Stanton, age 24 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested December 15 and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm which is a class “d” felony. The arrest came after Stanton appeared in Izard County District Court to answer a game and fish violation. During the proceedings, Stanton admitted to hunting with a .22 caliber firearm. Stanton remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $5,000 and a hold from the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections. Sgt. Gabe Sanders was the arresting officer.
Following a traffic stop December 12 on state highway 9 north of Oxford, Hebert Howell, age 49 of Viola was arrested on charges to include possession of drug paraphernalia-two counts, operating a vehicle without license plate, and having no insurance. Inside Howell’s vehicle was a glass smoking pipe and two light bulbs that appeared to be used as a smoking device. Howell remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $2,370, and hold from Fulton County and Missouri. Howell has a scheduled court date of January 19. DeputY Evan Jones was the arresting officer.
Around 5:00 a.m. December 13 when Deputy R. C. Lenex was dispatched to Horseshoe Bend Library due to what was thought to be an attempted break-in which was unfounded, the initial suspect, Charles Williams Bergman, age 49 of Oakland was arrested on the charge of possession of an instrument of crime. Upon a safety pat down, a smoking device was discovered in Bergman’s right pocket. Bergman was released the day of his arrest after posting a $1,340 bond and was given a February 17 Horseshoe Bend court date.
Paul Daniel Hines, age 36 of Searcy was arrested December 15 on the charge of fleeing. Circumstances of this warranted arrest stems from an earlier situation of Hines running from law enforcement.
Allen Aaron Winemiller, age 32 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested December 13 on charges of fictitious license plates, having no insurance, and driving on a suspended license. Winemiller posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $995 released from the Izard County Detention Facility with a January 3 Horseshoe Bend court date. Deputy Toby Smith was the arresting officer.
Ronald Ray Cagle, age 38 of Hot Springs was arrested December 15 on a felony failure to appear warrant. Cagle remains in the Izard County Detention Facility without bond. Cagle’s scheduled circuit court date is January 17. Deputy Steve Davidson was the transporting officer.
Amanda Marie Thomas, age 32 of Dolph was arrested December 14 on order from the Izard County Drug court and is to be held until the next scheduled drug court date of December 19. Thomas remains in the Izard County Detention Facility without bond.
Christopher Lewis Curtis, age 47 of Calico Rock was arrested December 13 on the charge of disorderly conduct. Curtis posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $220, was released from the Izard County Detention Facility and given a January 19 court date. Deputy D.J. Tiernan was the arresting officer.
Michael Jason Barron, age 34 of Oxford was arrested December 15 on a probation violation and a failure to appear in Izard County District Court. Barron remains in the Izard County Detention Facility without bond. Cpl. Richard Williams was the arresting officer.
Amy Lynn Smith, age 23 of Salem was arrested December 12 on a warrant to revoke probation. Smith remains in the Izard County Detention Facility without bond. Smith has a circuit court date of January 17. Smith was arrested by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.
Jason Lacade Ward, age 41 of Oxford was arrested December 12 on charges of Public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Ward is accused of being intoxicated on drugs and thinking that a friend was in the field dead. Ward was released the day of his arrest after posting a $440 bond and given a January 19 court date.
Codi Elizabeth Schales, of Horseshoe Bend was transported to the department of correction’s regional correctional facility. Schales had been in the Izard County Detention Facility since November 7 awaiting bed space.
