In the early morning hours of Sunday Sept. 9th, a burglar alarm activation was reported to the Izard County Sheriff’s Department from the Survival USA Business in Calico Rock.  Deputies responding discovered that the front door had been broken into and that McClain Chiropractic Office next door had also been broken into.  A short time later, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire at Judy’s Antique Shop.

   It was also determined that several vehicles at Van Evera’s car lot had been broken into.  Shortly thereafter, a Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Chessmond Ferry Road.  A short pursuit ensued when the vehicle wrecked.  One suspect was taken into custody.  

  Subsequent Investigation revealed several items in the vehicle that had been stolen from Harp’s Grocery in Calico Rock.  Also evidence of the suspect’s involvement in the other burglaries and arson were found.  The name of the suspect is being withheld until formal charges have been filed.
