Additional  Izard County charges have been filed on a pair young males who have been on a thieving spree in Izard and Sharp counties.  The most recent charges involve the theft of property from a residence on Sharp Street in Melbourne.  Chase A. Hussung, age 18 of Hardy  Joshua Spangler, age 17 who currently has an Ash Flat address and previously lived in Melbourne has been charged as adults  with residential burglary and theft of property, both class “b” felonies. Bond in the amount of  $2,500 has been set for Hussung who in custody in Sharp County on previous charges while Spangler continues on house arrest in Ash Flat. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Hussung and Spangler are facing many similar charges all of which involve theft activity. The investigation against the two is continuing according to Sheriff Lawrence.

Thomas Smith, age 19 of Salem was arrested Friday for violating his terms of probation relating to his earlier conviction of stealing a truck from a residence on Jumbo Road in Melbourne.  Smith is accused of failing to pay restitution as ordered along with fines , court costs and other fees.   Smith also faces charges in Fulton County relating to this arrest and his subsequent escape  and fleeing from authorities.  Smith remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $25,000 bond.

James A West, age 19 of  Mountain Home was arrested September 7 on a warrant for violating his terms of probation.  West was earlier convicted of theft related charges involving businesses in Calico Rock. West remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $35,000 bond.

An early Monday morning traffic stop south of Oxford resulted in the arrest of Jerry Lynn Springer of the J Bar J Community near Melbourne.  Springer was charged with driving while intoxicated -drugs and possessing an instrument of crime. Deputy Mark Simino’s report said that Springer’s vehicle interior  smelled heavily of intoxicants and the odor of marijuana and that Springer failed field sobriety tests conducted on site. Springer admitted to using marijuana in the smoking pipe discovered in the vehicle.   Sheriff Lawrence said that Springer tested positive for marijuana and opiates when booked into the Izard County Detention Facility where he remains on a $2,340 bond.

David Sidney Younger, age 47 of Melbourne was arrested September 8 on the charge of domestic battery third degree. The charges stems from a physical altercation with a female. Younger was transferred from the Izard County Detention Facility to a rehabilitation facility.

Following a traffic stop September 5, Steven William Chute, age 21 of Dolph was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor; and Kevin Keith Chute, age 39 of Pineville was charged with drinking in public and littering the roadway.  The younger Chute posted bond in the amount of $635 the following day while Kevin Chute posted bond in the amount of $660. Both were released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Samuel Jonathan Dashner, age 40 of Melbourne was arrested September 8 on the charge of public intoxication. Dashner was released from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting a $205 bond.

Amy C. Conley, age 34 of Ward was arrested Sunday on a failure to pay fines warrant.  Conley is being held in lieu of $4,692 bond.
