A Dolph couple face multiple charges after attempting to fraudulently purchase prescription drugs. According to Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Amanda M. Thomas, age 25 of Dolph called in a prescription orders to the Corner Drug Store and Mark’s Pharmacy in Melbourne for a fictitious person and that she used the name Amy as being from Dr. Beth Knight’s Office. Sheriff Lawrence also said that Bryan Lane Thomas, husband of Amanda and using the fictitious name, attempted to purchase the drugs at Corner Drug.
Amanda Thomas has been been charged with two counts of fraud in providing false information or prescription to obtain a controlled substance, a class “c” felony. Bryan Lane Thomas has been charged with possession of a controlled substance-Hydrocodone, a class “a” misdemeanor; and fraud in providing false information or prescription to obtain a controlled substance, a class “c” felony.
Bryan Thomas posted a $10,000 bond and has been released from the Izard County Detention Facility while his wife, Amanda Thomas, has not yet been arrested. Izard County Investigator Charles Melton and 16th Judicial District Drug Special Agent James Humphrey conducted the investigation.
