An Oxford man was arrested Thursday in connection with items being stolen from the Dean Hutchins residence near Oxford. Gerald Duwane Mettler, age 56 of Arkansas Highway 354 was charged with breaking or entering, a class “d” felony; theft of property, a class “c” felony; criminal mischief, a class”c” felony; and with possession of a controlled substance, a class “a” misdemeanor. Recovered from the Mettler residence was a pole saw that Mettler said was his but the serial number matched the number provided by Hutchins. In Mettler’s vehicle was a chainsaw matching the description to include the serial number provided by Hutchins. Mettler posted bond in the amount of $50,000 and was released with a circuit court date. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said the Izard County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate other theft reports in the area.
An Oxford man, nineteen year old Elijah R. Banning was arrested Thursday for falsely identifying himself as a police officer and exhibiting a blue emergency light on his vehicle. A Pleasant Ridge Road resident reported to the sheriff’s department that a male him a white car with blue light knocked on his door asking about a stolen vehicle. Another area resident reported that said a male with blue light on his care stopped the residence and said that he was looking for a man running through the woods. Banning was charged with criminal impersonation second degree, a class”a” misdemeanor; and light for emergency vehicles, a class “a’ misdemeanor. Banning was released the same day, given a court date, and posted a $1,000 appearance bond. A late Friday night traffic stop on Old Dolph Road near Calico Rock resulted in the arrest of Mason Alexander Grant, age 21 of Paragould. Grant was charged with driving on a suspended license, operating a vehicle without license plates, failure to transfer title, drinking in public, and failure to stop at a stop sign. Bond for Grant was set at $2050 on these Izard County charges and Greene County has placed a hold on him. Grant remains in the Izard County Jail.
Darren Weldon Wyatt, age 41 of Calico Rock was arrested the night of September 13 on charges of contempt of court and resisting arrest. Wyatt made an initial appearance before District Judge David E. Miller the following day and was given a scheduled court date.
A Missouri man was arrested Sunday afternoon at the Izard County Fairgrounds after arena officials complained about him causing a disturbance. John Currington, who admitted to using meth was charged with public intoxication -drugs and transported to the Izard County Detention Facility where he remains.
Judy Thomas, age 49 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested Thursday on a Craighead County warrant and was later transported from the Izard County Detention Facility to Jonesboro.
Michael Ray Allen, age 42 of Salem was transported Friday to the Arkansas Department of Correction to serve a court imposed sentence from Fulton County.
