Lawrence Parnell

A Norfork man was arrested early Thursday morning at a Calico Rock convenience store on numerous charges.  Lawrence Arden Parnell, age 61 of 1383 Shied Road was charged with public intoxication- drugs, two counts of possessing  drug paraphernalia,  and criminal trespass.  Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Deputy J. T. Baker was dispatched to the store after a store employee complained there was an intoxicated male at the store who refused to leave. The vehicle Parnell was driving was reported as stolen from Independence, Missouri.  Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been taken from the Cattlemen Exchange where , according to Parnell, his daughter in law worked and that she had driven it to his residence a few days earlier. He said that he had borrowed it to take friends to their  home in Calico Rock .  The vehicle was towed to the Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the information was passed to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department for further investigation. Parnell posted bond the following day in the amount of $3,270 and was released.

Daniel Wayne Dwight, age 21 of Dolph Road , Calico Rock was arrested Friday on a probation violation relating to a previous theft by receiving conviction.  Dwight remains in the Izard County Detention in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

Donald Harrison McQueen, age 32 of Sage was arrested Saturday on the charge of obstructing governmental operations.  At the time of his arrest, McQueen tested positive for opiates, marijuana, meth, and amphetamines.  McQueen posted bond the same day in the amount of  $1,105 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

A  Friday night fire of suspicious origin consumed the home of Patrick and Cora Thompson  at 395 Thompson Road , about four miles from Calico Rock off highway 5. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said the Izard County Sheriff’s Department along with the Arkansas State Police are continuing the investigation.
