An early Friday morning traffic stop in Melbourne resulted in the driver going to jail on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving on a suspended license, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Nancy Miller, age 26 of Mt. Pleasant was observed driving a maroon colored vehicle and the vehicle was crossing the traffic lanes and almost running completely off the highway.  Miller was given the standard field sobriety tests and she failed all of them.  A portable breath tests administered during the traffic stop yielded a reading of .14.  Once at the Izard County Detention Facility, Miller refused the BAC test.  In addition to the above charges, Miller was arrested on an outstanding warrant from White County.  Miller posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,350 and was released with a court date.

Izard County deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle accident at state highway 9 and Alpine Road late Sunday afternoon and arrested the driver with driving while intoxicated.  Keith M. Lawrence of Melbourne was in the driver’s seat of the wrecked 2000 Dodge truck and when asked to exit the vehicle he was unable to stand without assistance.  A field sobriety test was not performed due to Lawrence’s instability.  Lawrence refused to submit to a BAC test while being booked into the Izard County Detention  Facility and was additionally charged with refusing to submit to a chemical test.. 

Donnie Ray Woodcock, age 30 of Calico Rock was arrested early Saturday morning following a call for deputies to the Donnie Speak resident off state highway 5 north of Calico Rock.  It was reported that Woodcock appeared at the Speak residence, was intoxicated, and had earlier assaulted Speak.  Woodcock was located a short distance from the residence where he was arrested on public intoxication charges.  Woodcock is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility pending assault charges.

Rebecca Lyn Morris, age 25 of Oxford was arrested November 30 on the charge of violation of Arkansas hot check law.  Morris posted a cash bond December 1 in the amount of $557 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility and given a court date.

Jamie Clayton Stapleton, age 32 of Pineville was arrested November 29 on a child support enforcement warrant.  Stapleton remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $6,732.

William Shawn Woody, age 25 of Calico Rock was arrested November 30 on a Stone County misdemeanor.  Woody posted bond December 1 in the amount of $809 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Michael Gene Hamilton, age 46 of Melbourne was arrested November 30 on a Stone County warrant.  Hamilton posted bond December 1 in the amount of $1,146 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Chelsey Rain Patterson, age 20 of Calico Rock was arrested November 30 on Baxter County misdemeanor warrant.  Patterson posted bond December 1 in the amount of $790 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Steve Gene Jarrett, age 50 of Cushman was arrested December 1 on an Izard County failure to pay fines warrant.  Jarrett remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of an initial bond of $1,350.

Three Izard County inmates who were awaiting  prison bed space were transported to the Arkansas Department of Correction.  Transported were Jennifer Marie Thompson, age 34 of Salem;  Travis Lee Cagle, age 32 of Calico Rock; and Stacy Lea Boling, age 27 of Ash Flat.


Sheriff Tate Lawrence recently announced that Delois Evonne Harris, a level three registered sex offender has moved out of Izard County.  Sheriff Lawrence said that Harris, formerly of Newburg Road, moved to Searcy, Arkansas.

Donald J. Ehart, 7/27/1981, felony overdraft, Brockwell, Arkansas

Helen Leann McIntire, 6/16/1982, felony probation violation, Hot Springs, Arkansas

John William Mosher, 7/11/1992, failure to appear on possession of controlled substance, Melbourne, Arkansas

William Nebergal 9/27/1967, nonsupport, Bradford ( White County), Arkansas

Nathanial Speak, 4/30/1983, failure to appear, conspiracy to manufacture, Calico Rock, Arkansas

Michael Lee Stevens, 11/31992, breaking and entering and theft of property, Melbourne, Arkansas (Photo not available)

William Cody Tillman, 6/13/1992, theft by receiving , Melbourne, Arkansas

Dennis Tucker, 11/3/1953, revocation of suspended sentence, Laredo, Texas
