03/05/2012 ARREST MADE IN CALICO ROCK ARSON FIRE |

Brandy N. Sanders, age 36 of Calico Rock was arrested February 27 on charges of arson, a class ‘a” felony and reckless burning, a class a ”d” felony. Jennifer Ann Bettencourt, age 29 was arrested February 29 and also charged with arson and reckless burning. These charges stem from Sanders contracting with Bettencourt to burn the home of Sanders located on Bonnie Street in Calico Rock. The house was a total loss. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Sanders and Bettencourt posted bond the day of their in arrest in the amount of $2,500 each and were given a court date in Izard County Circuit Court. In an unrelated matter, Cameron Neal Johnson, age 23 of Batesville was arrested March 1 on the charge of domestic battering third degree. The arrest was the result of call to an altercation at the Billy Smallwood residence at 27 Cooper Hollow Road near Mt. Pleasant. According to witnesses, Johnson had been self medicating himself with marijuana prior to moving to Izard County but now was unable to obtain marijuana. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said Johnson’s behavior was similiar of someone going through drug withdrawals. Kelly Lynn Alberson, age 33 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested February 27 on a child support enforcement warrant. Alberson was ordered released by Circuit Judge Lee Herrod on March 1.
