The Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police are investigating a Friday night fire of the home of Charles L. Green and Audrey Gaye Green.  The home located at 5922 Lacrosse Road near Violet Hill was totally destroyed in spite of the efforts of the Franklin, Oxford, and Melbourne Fire Departments.  According to Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence, the body believed to be that of Charles Green,  age 58 was recovered early Saturday morning and has been taken to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory as the investigation continues.

The initial call to the Izard County Sheriff’s Department by a neighbor who reported that Audrey Green came to her house requesting she call the sheriff’s department because her husband, Charles Green, was threatening to burn down their house.    Sheriff Lawrence said an apparent  domestic type dispute between the Green’s may have been the catalyst behind the night’s events.
