A Memorial Day ceremony was conduct Monday, May 28 at the Izard County Veterans Park located off of Haley Street in Melbourne. Mr. Rick Ramsey served as master of ceremonies, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department provided the color guard and the honor guard, while Brioney Edwards sang “The National Anthem” and “God Bless America. Mr. Steve Wheeler layed the memorial wreath, Sheriff Tate Lawrence gave the keynote address, Mr. Jim Carroll played “Taps”, and Mr. Steve Stevenson offered the closing prayer. Pictured is the Izard County Sheriff’s Department honor guard. Members are Deputy Mark Simino, Deputy Acy Beebe, Deputy Chris Marshall, Deputy Kevin Helm, Deputy Justin Matthews, Reserve Deputy Jeff Sanders, and Senior Deputy Gabe Sanders.
