Sheriff Tate Lawrence and Deputy Mark Semino visited with students about their safety as related to strangers, about fire safety, and about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.. Each were presently with a safety coloring book, an underage alcohol prevention pencil, and of course a candy sucker. The overall theme of the visit was how to obtain assistance from emergency services in case of an emergency. The students were also able to look over the sheriff’s cars with lights and sirens. Sheriff Lawrence said he is always delighted to speak with these young people about their own safety. Lawrence further commented that these students were extremely sharp and were very knowledgeable about the subject matter. Lawrence said it is obvious these kids have been taught well at home and at Calico Rock Head Start. Similar programs are planned for the Brockwell Head Start and the Melbourne Head Start in the near future.
