10/08/2012 DEATH INVESTIGATION IN HORSESHOE BEND |

The Izard County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Arkansas State Police, is assisting the Horseshoe Bend Police Department with the death investigation of Danny Wayne Brock, age 28 of Horseshoe Bend. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Horseshoe Bend Police were the first responders to 1208 Scenic Circle in Horseshoe Bend early Saturday night regarding an incident at that address. Upon arrival, the victim was found to be bleeding profusely from cut wounds from an arm. Brock was transported to Fulton County Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later. Deputy Kevin Helm arrived at Fulton County Hospital where he observed cuts on the deceased and reported that he could smell a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the person. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for a cause of death determination, according to Sheriff Lawrence. At this stage of the investigation, investigators are not suspecting foul play. Max Wesley Rhodes of that address was at the residence when officers arrived, and was placed into temporary custody but was later released after he sobered up. Sheriff Lawrence said that alcohol is likely contributing factor to the incident. Sheriff Lawrence said the investigation is continuing.
