Students of the Brockwell Head Start were visited by Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence and Deputy Mark Simino on Wednesday morning, October 10, 2012. In addition to being able to play in and around a sheriff’s patrol car, the students learned about personal safety, fire safety, traffic safety, safety seats, an other topics relating to their personal safety and well being. Sheriff Lawrence said the Izard County Sheriff’s Department will pay another visit within a few days to finger print the children. Sheriff Lawrence commented that the students were very attentive, good listeners, and well behaved. The sheriff’s department is scheduled to visit the Melbourne Head Start on October 18, 2012.
