Izard County deputies were dispatched to 3413 Arkansas Highway 56 the night of March 12 regarding a shooting.  Upon arrival, it was determined that a male victim had been shot in the upper thigh with a 45 caliber handgun.  The victim was transported to a Little Rock hospital by air ambulance.  Arrested at the scene was Dennis P. Lawton, age 47 of that address.  During the course of the investigation, a search warrant was executed and numerous illegal drug items were discovered.  Lawton was charged with five felony drug related charges and four misdemeanor drug related charges.  The felony charges include the possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a defaced firearm, and furnishing prohibited articles.  Lawton posted a $25,000 bond on March 15.  Meanwhile, according to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, the investigative information relating to the shooting has been provided the 16th Judicial District Prosecutor Don McSpadden for possible charges.

Michael Allen Liscomb, age 31 of Melbourne was arrested March 11 on the charges of domestic battering third degree and criminal mischief second degree.  Liscomb is accused of assaulting a female victim and busting the door to her bedroom in order to gain entry.  Liscomb then refused to leave the residence when he was arrested.  Liscomb remains in the Izard County Detention Facility on a department of correction hold.  Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Liscomb was recently released from prison.

Nicholas Benjamin Speak, age 34 of Calico Rock was arrested March 15 following a home visit by his probation officer.  Speak was growing a marijuana plant and drug paraphernalia in his residence.  Speak remains in the Izard County Detention Facility on a criminal investigative hold.

Dorothy Marie Banning, age 54 of Oxford was arrested March 13 on a battery third degree warrant.  The arrest follows a November 2012 warrant accusing Banning of assaulting a person on Red Lane in Calico Rock. Banning appeared before District Judge David E. Miller, was released and given a court date.

David Keith Crider, age 23 of Oxford was committed to the Izard County Detention Facility on March 11 for a period of 72 days.  Crider’s commitment is the result of action by Izard County Drug Court.

Brayden William Conyers, age 22 of Mt. Pleasant was arrested March 14 on a failure to pay fines relating to a previous public intoxication conviction.  Conyers posted bond the day of his arrest in the amount of $415 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Joseph Boyd Cheek, age 50 of Jordan was arrested March 14 on a hot check warrant.  Cheek posted bond the following day in the amount of $345 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Laura Ann Kalata, age 32 of Mountain Home was arrested March 15 on a child support enforcement warrant.  Kalata remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $10,500 bond.

Jennifer Denise Raub, age 39 of Brockwell was transferred from the Izard County Detention Facility on March 15 to a rehabilitation facility.

Dustin Michael Baird, age 25 of Melbourne was transported March 12 from the Izard County Detention Facility to the Arkansas Department of Correction.
