04/22/2013 NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY |
||||
Just in time for National Drug Take Back Day, April 27, 2013, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department recently installed a drug take back drop-off receptacle provided by White River Sold Waste Management. The receptacle is located at the outside of the sheriff’s office main entrance located at 300 Circle Drive in Melbourne. The take back program is a great benefit to our community. Sheriff Tate Lawrence encourages everyone to drop off unneeded or outdated prescription drugs as a way of reducing drug abuse and preventing children from harm by these drugs. You are encouraged to clean out your medicine cabinets and drawers and bring these drugs to the sheriff’s office. Not only does this remove unneeded drugs from our community, it is a most environmentally friendly means to do so. Flushing drugs down our toilets and into waste water systems can contaminate surface and ground water causing contaminates to enter our drinking water supply. Sheriff Lawrence said the drop off receptacle is available to the citizens of Izard County, not only on National Drug Take Back Day, everyday day of the week, and twenty four hours a day. We encourage you to drop off these drugs on Drug Take Back Day and everyday thereafter.
