06/10/2013 FLAG BURNING CEREMONY |
|||
Anyone having worn out faded, or tattered American Flags is invited to attend a ceremonial flag burning for such flags at the Izard County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, June 14th. The short Flag Day ceremony beginning at 12:15 p.m. will include comments from local businessman and community leader James O. Miller, patriotic music and songs by members of the Beachwood Groove Band. In that June 10 is also the birthday of the US Army; we will celebrate the army’s 238th birthday and hopefully have a restored army jeep of the World War II period on display. Everyone, including children is invited as a way of teaching our young Americans the importance of our flag, our country, and our heritage.
