Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said today that with Independence Day holiday approaching he would like to remind everyone that July 4 is typically the worst day of the year for traffic related fatalities. The Sheriff noted that, according to safety statistics, more fatalities occur on July 4th than any other day and that July 3rd is the second most deadly day. July 4th is also the deadliest day for motorcycle riders. A combination of summer travel, celebration, and alcohol are the deadly components .With alcohol responsible for about half of these fatalities , Sheriff Lawrence urge those who must be on the road during the holiday period to drive defensibly and responsibly and to absolute avoid alcoholic beverage before getting behind the wheel.
