Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence announced that a counterfeit five dollar bill was recently passed at a Melbourne business. The counterfeit currency was passed the early morning of August 2nd. Sheriff Lawrence said that it is somewhat unusual that small denominations are counterfeited with it being more common to counterfeit twenty dollars bills. Everyone should be on the lookout for fake money.
