An Ash Flat male and female was arrested August 6 on charges of domestic battering third degree.  Michael Edward Gilbreath, age 39 and Lacey Collins, age 24 according a witness were engaged in a yelling and cursing situation and that  Collins was observed slapping and kicking  Gilbreath. Collins stated she was slammed against the wall and was thrown around by Gilbreath. When booked into the Izard County Detention Facility, Gilbreath was directed to provide a urine sample for drug testing purposes. Gilbreath dipped the sample container into a commode before providing the sample. Gilbreath was additionally charged with obstruction of governmental operations. Gilbreath tested positive for marijuana, opiates, and oxycodone.  Collins appeared in court on August 9, was released and given a court date. Gilbreath appeared in court and was committed to the Izard County Detention Facility for 365 days. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Gilbreath has had numerous drug encounters with law enforcement

Allen Wayne Kipfer, age 28 of Melbourne was arrested August 6 on the felony charge of furnishing prohibited articles into a jail facility. According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Kipfer was earlier arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and obstruction governmental operations and during the process of booking and searching Kipfer, Detention Officer Casey Sanders observed a used syringe and needle fall from Kipfer’s pocket. Kipfer posted bond August 8 in the amount of $5,000, released from the Izard County Detention Facility and given a circuit court date of September 10.

Dennis Paul Lawton, age 48 of Jordan was arrested August 5 on the charge of failure to appear. The felony charge is the result of Lawton failing to appear in circuit court on drug charges. Lawton remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bond.
