In separate sobriety checkpoints on April 17 a Calico Rock man and a Dolph man were arrested and placed on a criminal investigative hold and were formally charged Monday with numerous drug offenses. Noel James Loosey, age 50 of Calico Rock was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a class “d” felony; simultaneous possession of drug and firearms, a class “y” felony, obstruction of government operations; a class “a” misdemeanor; and driving on a suspended license. Loosey, who initially gave Trooper Pickers of the state police a false name, had methamphetamine on his person and a loaded revolver in his vehicle. Loosey is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $15,000 bond. A Dolph man, twenty seven year old Roy M. Hicks is facing seven charges including driving while intoxicated and numerous drug related charges. These charges include possession of methamphetamine, a class “d” felony; possession of marijuana, a class “a” misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to ingest methamphetamine, a class “d” felony; possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to ingest marijuana, a class “a” misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to pack a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a class “b” felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to pack marijuana, a class “d” felony. Hicks remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of $5,000 bond. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said these arrests and charges are the result of the cooperative efforts of the Arkansas State Police, the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Izard County Sheriff’s Department.
