10/03/2014 COUNTERFEIT BILL PASSED IN HORSESHOE BEND |
|||
A counterfeit $100 bill was recently passed at the Dollar General Store in Horseshoe Bend. Sheriff’s Department Investigators have identified the male passing the counterfeit bill, the female giving the bill to the male and a male who gave the money to the female. At this point in the investigation, it appears the bill may have been initially passed near Mt. Pleasant near the Independence County line. It has been reported that several large counterfeit bills have been passed in Independence County. This counterfeit was slightly smaller than a genuine bill (new type) and the security strip on the bill was somewhat different. This information is being provided to help people detect a counterfeit if presented to them for payment.
