TIMOTHY COPES Timothy Copes, age 34 of Oxford was arrested Tuesday on charges of criminal attempt (capital murder)-three counts and battery in the second degree. The charges stem from what was an initial domestic violence call last Sunday morning and another such call Sunday afternoon. Copes could not be located when deputies responded to the first call and but was located on the second response. Copes was armed with a machete type weapon he used in an attempt to harm the deputies. Copes was tazed several times to no avail and was finally shot in abdomen wounding him. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said. Copes was flown to a Jonesboro hospital, treated and was arrested the day of his release. Copes posted bond in the amount of $25,000 and released with a circuit court date. The wife, Chrisitina Ann Copes, age 31 was arrested during the second call for interfering with governmental operations. She posted bond the following day in the amount of $810 and was released with an April 9 court date.
