Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that Douglas Charles Face, age 46 of Brockwell was arrested March 30 on the charge of sexual assault in the second degree. The thirteen year old step daughter of Face said on a day in January she stayed home from school because she was sick and had taken some medicine including cough syrup. The underage female victim further stated she awoke as Face began to touch her chest and between her legs. The victim said she was awakened by Face’s touching but pretended, because of fear, to remain asleep. She also stated that after a brief moment or two, Face then took her hand a placed it on his penis. About one week later, Face alleged told the victim that if she told the cops he would be put in prison for a long time.

On March 14 the victim told her mother about the January sexual incident. The mother comforted Face about the allegations and according to the mother, Face did not deny anything and stated only that the step daughter would not lie. After the discussion, the mother reported that Face packed some clothes and said that he was leaving to never return. He left on his motorcycle.

The next day, March 15, the Stone County Sheriff’s Department reported to Izard County authorities that Face had be found in a Mountain View motel with his wrist cut and that he was bleeding out. Face was rushed to the emergency room in Mtn. View and later transported to White River Medical Center in Batesville and then to Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock. A note on a paper bag was left in the motel room apologizing  for what he had done and that he was sorry he let the SHADOW hurt people. IN another sentence he wrote “I tried to control the monster, the shadow is strong”.

Upon Faces’s released from the Veterans Administration, he was arrested and transported to the Izard County Detention Facility where he remains on a suicide watch. Sexual assault in the second degree is a class  “b” felony, according to Sheriff Lawrence.

Circuit Judge Tim Weave has set bond in the amount of $50,000 for Face.
