07/27/2015 STOLEN PHONE WIRE WORTH LITTLE |
|||
In recent weeks, there have been several reports of telephone wire being removed from poles. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said these acts of thefts are occurring late at night and in the most rural areas of the county. The sheriff said this wire contains very little copper and has little worth at the scrap yards. A 1000 feet of wire will only produce a handful of copper and according to a local phone company representative and might be enough when sold to buy a soft drink. Anyone seeing suspicious activity is asked to call the Izard County Sheriff’s Department at 870-368-4203.
