Melanie Jordan O’Brien, age 24 of Horseshoe Bend was arrested December 14 on an Izard County Circuit Court warrant of contempt and a petition to revoke probation. A the time O’Brien was booked into the Izard County Detention Facility, her personal items contained articles reported as stolen out of the Horseshoe area. O’Brien was additionally charged with theft of property and remains incarcerated without bond with a January 25 court date. Sheriff TateLawrence commented that O’Brien has frequent encounters with law enforcement.

A Horseshoe Bend male known to run with O’Brien identified as Charles Anthony Clements, age 32 was also jailed December 14 and being held on a criminal investigative hold and a probation hold. Clements remains in the Izard County Detention Facility without bond.  Lawrence said that Clements has frequent encounters with law enforcement.

Shona Marie Crouch, age 37 of Melbourne, another person well known to local law enforcement was arrested December 16 and charged with battery third degree and terroristic threatening. Crouch is accused to hitting another female and threatened to burn down her house. Crouch was transferred to Independence County to answer additional charges.

Kevin Darnell Higdon,age 53 of Oxford was arrested Friday on charges of domestic battering third degree and possessing an instrument of crime after deputies responded to Camp Ground Road and located no one but was later advised that a female from another residence was in Fulton County seeking emergency medical treatment resulting from a domestic altercation. The victim accused Higdon of coming to her house and they go into an argument over $14.00, that he ransacked her house, that he threw her on the floor, and grabbed her around the neck. Higdon was released Sunday from the Izard County DetentionFacility after posting a $2,240 bond and given a January 7 court date.

After failing to stop at a stop sign, 19 year old Michael Shane Gleghorn was arrested early Friday morning at a Horseshoe Bend intersection on the failure to stop charge, under age driving under the influence, reckless driving, possession of intoxicating liquor by a minor, and having no insurance. Glehnorn was released later the day of his arrest after posting a $1,370 bond and was I issued a February 2 court date.

Another failure yield stop Saturday resulted in multiple charges for Johnny Lee Cartwright, age 38 of Franklin. In addition to the failure to yield, Cartwright was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving left of center, driving on a suspended license, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Cartwright was released from jail on Sunday after appearing before District Judge David E. Miller who issued a February 4 court date.

A Sage man, fifty two year old Danny Ward Calaway was arrested early morning hours December 15 on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Calaway was released later the day of his arrest after posting a $440 bond and issued a court date of January 21.

A safety check point conducted jointly by the Arkansas State Police and the Izard County Sheriff’s Department resulted in charges against a Mountain View man. Colter Mark Vanhorn, age 23 was charged December 15 with driving while intoxicated-drugs, driving on a suspended license, and having no vehicle insurance. Vanhorn remains in the Izard County DetentionFacility in lieu of $1,430 bond a Sharp County hold.

In another safety check point arrest, Daniel Calvert, age 47 of Mt. Pleasant was arrested December 15 on the charge of driving while intoxicated. Calvert posted an $820 bond the following day, was released from the Izard County DetentionFacilitywith a January 21 court date.

A third safety check point resulted in the arrest of Henry Nielson, age 27 of Mountain Home. Nielson’s charges include driving while intoxicated-third offense drugs, driving on a suspended license, and having no vehicle insurance. Nielson remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a $3,465 bond with a January 21 curt date.

Geneva Jewell Anderson, age 76 of Violet Hill was arrested December 17 for contempt of court relating to the violation of a no-contact order. Anderson posted bond the day of her arrest in the amount of $2,500 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

A Sage woman, Nicole Brittney Ferrell, age 20 was arrested Saturday on a failure to pay fines warrant. Ferrell posted bond the day of her arrest in the amount of $380 and issued a January 21 court date.

Following an incident Sunday at a Horseshoe Bend business, Randal Lynn Billingsley, age 26 of Violet Hill was arrested on charges of public intoxication, criminal trespass, and harassment. The charges stem from an incident with his girlfriend who works at the business. Billingsley was asked by a deputy to leave the store several times and he refused.

Tanya Leanne Stanton, age 40 of Horseshoe Bend, an inmate in the IzardCounty DetentionFacility who was awaiting bed space was transported December 14 to the Arkansas Department of Correction.
