Several people gathered at the Izard County Sheriff’s Office on Flag Day, June 14, for a ceremonial flag retirement program. Many others left American Flags to be appropriately disposed of in an honorable way. In his remarks to the attendees, Izard County Judge David Sherrrell noted that everyday should be a day that we pay special tribute and honor to the American Flag. Judge Sherrell further noted that disposing the flag in such a way is a reminder that we live in such a special nation. “The National Anthem” was sung by 9 year old Allie Cone and Katie Miller while Allie’s mother, Tracy Cone sang “God Bless America”. Refreshments were served after the ceremony.
